Deadlines:

  • Application: June 30 (well, give or take a few days....)
  • Notification of acceptance: early July (or at the latest in early August)
  • Notification of abstracts selected for short talks: early to mid August
  • Payment: after you have been notified that you are accepted


Registration fee:

  • Graduate students/postdocs: 860 CHF (includes registration, full board, shared double rooms, taxes)
  • Academic PIs: 1'250 CHF (registration, full board, single rooms, taxes)
  • Corporate participants: 1'700 CHF (registration, full board, single rooms, taxes)
  • This covers everything from dinner on September 29 to breakfast on October 3 (except your expenses at the bar).
  • You will be able to pay by credit card or bank transfer. For payments by bank transfer, there will be a 2.6% discount (but bank charges will be on you). You will get all of the information once you are formally accepted, i.e. in early July (or at the latest in early August).


Space:

  • The number of participants is limited to about 150 to encourage an interactive environment.
  • If oversubscribed, we will limit the number of participants from the same group.
  • Spouses, kids, friends are welcome provided there is enough space (beds and rooms are limited). Some accommodation is also available outside of the conference venue and the restaurant can easily hold more people than registered conference attendees. You can indicate your wishes in the online registration form.


Venue:

  • Les Diablerets is an easily accessible beautiful mountain resort in the Swiss Alps (see Les Diablerets).
  • everyone will stay on site or within walking distance. All meals will be taken there. Talks and posters will be at a conference center a 5 minutes walk away. More information on the conference hotel at Eurotel.
  • graduate students and postdocs should expect to share a room with another attendee (preferred roommates can be indicated upon registration).
  • Internet: all rooms at the hotel Eurotel have WLAN access.
  • Weather this time of the year can be clear sunny skies, at best comfortable with light sweater (at worst, quite chilly).


Travel:

  • we suggest that you fly into Geneva (but Zurich works, too).
  • it's about 2 hours from Geneva airport by train (3 hours from Zurich airport).

  • we suggest you purchase a (return) ticket at Geneva airport to Les Diablerets.
  • the Hotel is within walking distance from the train station (through the center of the village across the creek, past the tennis courts).


Program grid:

  • Sept. 29 (Wednesday): meeting starts with dinner at 7 pm, followed by a keynote lecture and the first session.
  • Sept. 30 and Oct. 1: morning session with talks - free time after lunch - mid to late afternoon: poster session followed by a session for discussion of controversial and open questions - evening session with talks after dinner.
  • Oct. 2: morning session - lunch - poster session - late afternoon and early evening session - banquet.
  • Excursion: probably half day hike on Sept. 30, Oct. 1 or 2 (easy to moderate hiking; bring hiking boots or good sneakers and rain gear).
  • Oct. 3 (Sunday): breakfast and departure.


Posters:

  • There will be 2-3 poster sessions.
  • Everyone can show a poster.
  • No particular format.


Travel grants:

  • a limited number of travel grants are available.
